Statistics Clarification & Criteria on Supply Sources
Country of supply for goods is determined on the basis of the location of the supplier Country of assignment are based on the location of the supplier offering the goods and not based on the country where those goods are produced Goods made in country A but sold to United Nations by a company based in country B are attributed to country B Country of supply for services is determined on the basis of the location of the firm’s headquarters (not to a representation office) Presently, no data is recorded, on manufacturers or country of origin for a product used in a supply chain, by UNPD

Statistics Clarification
Two approaches to analyze statistics: Value ($ and %) from the overall total UNPD turnover UN PD (HQs & DPKO) + Local Peacekeeping Missions + OAH Value ($ and %) from a specific reporting segment UN PD (HQs & DPKO) or Local Peacekeeping Missions or OAH

Clarification on Statistics for Developing Countries and Countries with Economies in Transition (*)
Based on overall total PD turnover - A/60/846/Add5 Annex II & III, page 51 & 55 – Specific share for (*) - 2004: $ 587M or 41.9% out of an overall total of $ 1.4B 2005: $ 791M or 44.5% out of an overall total of $ 1.8B Increase in value and Increase in % Based on specific reporting segment such as Local Peacekeeping Missions – Specific share for (*) - 2004: $ 237M or 51.5 % out of a total of local Peacekeeping Missions turnover $ 462M 2005: $ 414M or 49.5% out of a total of Local Peacekeeping Missions turnover $ 838M Increase in value and decrease in %

Clarification on Statistics for Developing Countries and Countries with Economies in Transition (*)
Based on specific reporting segment such HQs + Local Peacekeeping Missions – Specific share for (*) - 2004: $ 549M or 49.1 % out of a total of HQs + Local Peacekeeping Missions turnover $ 1.1B 2005: $ 722M or 50.2% out of a total of HQs + Local Peacekeeping Missions turnover $ 1.4B Increase in value and increase in % Same exercise can be made on other specific segments such as OAH, HQs - New York -, etc.

Statistics Improvements
This will require: Revision of definition for tracking information and statistics Capture of new source data and populate database Any substantial change could have an impact on resources, process, and system

Procurement from Developing Countries and Countries with Economies in Transition
Today’s status Meetings in September to organize Business Seminars (24 Member States) Commitment to conduct seminars in 4 countries in 6 cities in November/December 06……Requests for 2007 Posting of procurement information on Web site DVD with video and presentation material on “How to do business with the United Nations” Brochure available in print and on the website in 6 official languages Exploring ways Increase number and efficiency of Business Seminars Conduct joint screening by UN and Host to ensure that vendors meet UN requirements Greater involvement from peacekeeping procurement offices Seek national or regional support to relay UN procurement information Strategy, coordination and monitoring of this initiative will require additional resources UN Financial Rules & Regulations remain applicable
