(A) Strain elastography of left submandibular gland in a patient with SS. An inhomogeneous structure is visualized on the left side of the image (grey-scale US), indicating the presence of cystic formations and fibrotic tissue. The elastographic image (right side) shows alternations of soft and hard areas, due to the different gland structure and related strain. (B) Strain elastography of the skin at the level of the forearm in a patient with scleroderma. A blue band corresponding to the stiff dermis is visualized on the elastographic image (left side); on the right side, the corresponding grey-scale image shows the dermis and subcutaneous tissues. (C) Psoriatic lesions on the right forearm in a patient with psoriasis. Strain elastography shows a blue band at the level of the psoriatic plaque (right side); on the left side, the grey-scale image of the plaque is shown. (D) Psoriatic lesions on the anterior aspect of the knee in a patient with psoriasis. Strain elastography shows a blue area corresponding to the stiff psoriatic plaque (right side); on the left side, the grey-scale image of the psoriatic lesion is visualized.
