3 Text to Text Connecting the selection you are reading to another form of text (novel, article, television show, etc) Connections can be made among setting, between characters or even plot

4 Text to Self Connecting the selection you are reading to yourself (experiences, beliefs, ideas, etc) Connections are made about you and how you relate in anyway to the selection

5 Text to World Connecting the selection you are reading to something happening in the world or something that happened in the world Historic/World events and facts are a good way to connect text to world

6 Examples Can you think of a book you recently read where you were able to compare yourself to the character? What connection is this?

7 Examples What selection did you recently read that made you think of something else you have read? What connection is this?

8 Examples When were you able to connect an historic event to a text you have read? What is this connection called?
