1 Population Patterns of the Western Hemisphere
Unit 2 Lesson 6 Population Patterns of the Western Hemisphere

2 Where are people likely to settle when they move to new areas?
Settlement patterns are linked to physical features of the Earth as well as human features Where are people likely to settle when they move to new areas? Remember early settlements in the United States along the eastern seaboard. Prior to that time of settlement the Spanish explored coasts and traveled inland searching for gold.

3 coastal and inland waterways were early paths of exploration
study maps in textbooks, historical atlases, or use other reference materials, following the paths of Dutch, English, French, and Spanish explorers. What other physical features, besides water, drew settlers to a specific area?
