1 ABEL and Leadership Development in York Region DSB
Our interest is in providing an update of ICT and LD And to seek future direction and gain feedback on our process to date Started out with a dialogue with Denese and Bob and Janet and Nancy Group has expanded to include the expertise of Stephen Mau and Dianne Hawkins Also have been doing some work with Jim Forbes – given his knowledge and expertise in ICT and as a principal. Both Todd Wright and Neil Beattie have also offered insights, comments and understanding of the system

One-stop shopping Clarity of access to information & resources A variety of modes of delivery Modular PD Recognition of Prior Learning Individualized by learning preference/need PD must parallel current paradigm of effective classroom practice We hear from principals requesting - as much as possible to direct our leaders to one – stop – shopping for PD Ties into clarity of access Modular PD – ie Health and Safety workshop – experienced P may need only 25% of that workshop – not all aspects. Variety of entry and exit points – thus looking at modules of learning If we want our principals to be instructional leaders – then PD that we engage them in – must model what we want them to be involved in their schools

May be implications for our roles in Leadership Development – need to facilitate any of the learnings supported by ICT
