1 Epidemiology and natural history of vestibular schwannoma

During the past 15 years there have been several reports on increasing incidense of VS. If this increase in the number of diagnosed VS reflects a tru increase in incidence or if we because of easier access to MRI scans finds the ones that should have been diagnosed earlier we really do not know. Only time will show this. The aim of our study is to describe and analyze this phenominom.

2 Subjects 2283 Diagnosed VS in the period; from January 1976 to end December 2008. 1123 Operated after diagnosis 16 Fractionated irradiation 1144 Allocated to ”wait and scan” In Denmark with a population of aproximately 5.2 Mil.all treatment of VS is centralyzed in the ENT Dept.
