2 HOW IT ALL BEGAN In April, 1967, a group of financial aid administrators and fiscal business officers from Missouri junior colleges and four year institutions met informally. First planned meeting was held in June of 1967 at Lincoln University.

3 MASFAP IS BORN At this second meeting, the members voted to create MASFAP. There was no formal constitution or mission, and no funds. The first officers were… President: Paul Canole Vice-President: LG Belcher Secretary: George Brooks

4 BEGINNINGS Meetings were held twice a year at different institutions
The newsletter was created in 1968 with donations of $22 from the attendees Membership fee of $10 was first assessed in 1969 Fall of 1969 the first MASFAP constitution was written and approved

5 GROWTH In 1971, the meeting moved to a conference site for the first time at the Holiday Inn in Osage Beach Rooms were $11.23 and registration fee was $8.50, including meals.

6 CONSTITUTION CHANGE In the 1980’s, the constitution was changed to allow lenders to join as Associate Members. Although there was initial concern, the impact of lender involvement has been positive. Associate Member financial support enhanced the organization and has assisted with many conference activities.

7 MASFAP ACHIEVEMENTS In 1992, MASFAP’s 25th anniversary was celebrated, and in 2002 our 35th birthday party. A silent auction, now an annual event, was held to raise money for the scholarship fund. This fund awards two $500 scholarships a year. In 2002, the community service project began to aid needy schools and organizations.

8 MASFAP TODAY Conference attendance averages 275 attendees
Conferences held at the Lodge of the Four Seasons Membership dues are $60 annually per institution Technology has created our website where registration can be done online, and great information is at your fingertips.
