1 Welcome to Your New Position As An Instructor
What Training and Development Means to You as an Education Affiliates Instructor

2 Why Education Affiliates Believes in Instructional Excellence
Our goal is to provide students with the education and support services they need for personal growth and to be successful in their chosen career. Student success at our school is the result of the combined efforts of all employees, whether they are teachers or administrators. However, the experience the student has in the classroom is the primary factor in keeping that student in school, working to achieve his or her goals. We expect a great deal from our instructors, but we are prepared to give you the ongoing training and support you need to be successful. 4/24/2019 6:26 PM

5 Instructor Fast Track Program: The Assignments
This provides an opportunity for you to work with your immediate supervisor to explore the core components necessary for you to become an exceptional instructor. The Instructor Fast Track Program provides you an opportunity to: Learn about and observe learner-centered teaching techniques. Guided Observation - This assignment is designed to introduce teaching concepts you will be able to use in the classroom and allow you an opportunity to observe those behaviors in practice. Your ability to recognize these teaching behaviors during a guided observation will demonstrate your understanding of these concepts. Reflect on your experiences as an instructor and gain insight into future areas for your development. Critical Reflection - The critical reflection assignment is designed to introduce the concept of critical reflection and create an opportunity to reflect on what you are learning, observing, and experiencing while you prepare for and/or provide instruction in the classroom. We believe that the ability to critically reflect upon your effectiveness as an instructor and make improvements upon your delivery strategies is a necessary and required ability for all teachers within our organization. 4/24/2019 6:26 PM

6 Instructor Fast Track Program: The Assignments
Implement lesson planning strategies and learn more about your core curriculum. Lesson Planning - The lesson planning assignment is designed to walk you through the process for preparing for instruction. An added benefit is that you will gain more information and understanding about the curriculum you will be teaching and you will be able to use this assignment during an actual class. Evaluate your presentation techniques to improve your overall impact in the classroom. Assessing Presentation Skills - We all can improve on our presentation skills. For this assignment you will videotape yourself delivering live instruction, and then you will review the tape and evaluate your performance. This process of being videotaped can be intimidating; however, this exercise can be very effective in showing you what you are doing well, and what you can improve upon. 4/24/2019 6:26 PM

7 For the benefit of you and your students, we must ask that you:
Do the BEST JOB you possibly can on these assignments. Take your time. Do the tasks given WELL. Understand that they show YOUR skill level and poor work here is a serious problem for us. To ensure that you produce quality work in this program, your supervisor will work with you on each assignment. Your supervisor will review the assignment with you PRIOR to your starting it. Your supervisor will be available to you to answer questions while you are completing the assignment and to help you be successful in the tasks assigned. Your supervisor will review your assignment with you and give you feedback, and if necessary, will require you to re-do portions of the work assigned to ensure that it meets the expectations of our company. 4/24/2019 6:26 PM

It is our goal to work with you during the next 12 months to strengthen your teaching skills. This needs to be your primary focus in your first year as a teacher for our company. We will accomplish this through: Individual meetings where we discuss the QUALITY of your work. One of these meetings will be your 90-day performance review. At this point we will determine if you are progressing well enough to continue with the company. An Education Affiliates Instructor Training Program. Sometime in your first year, you will be scheduled for this program. This is an intensive training session designed to improve the quality of your teaching and is mandatory for all instructors company-wide. 4/24/2019 6:26 PM
