Fig. 1 Distribution of allele size in the central repetitive region of MUC1, MUC2, and MUC5AC by the MI phenotype. The number of alleles in the MI or no MI groups is given followed by the Wilcoxon rank-sum test p value. The proportion of alleles for MI and no MI were not significant for (A) MUC1 (p value=0.33), (B) MUC2 (p value=0.16), nor (C) MUC5AC (p value=0.71). For easier viewing, the MUC1 alleles 2.6–2.9kb were binned together and shown as a bar<3.0 and 6.1–8.0kb were binned as>6.0 (A). Similarly, MUC2 alleles 3.7–5.8kb were binned as <5.9 and 7.3–10.7kb were grouped as >7.2 (B). Finally, MUC5AC alleles 5.6–6.1kb were binned as <6.2 and 7.1–8.5kb were binned as >7.0 (C).
