May 8, 1945 Germany surrenders unconditionally.
Nuremberg Trials
24 surviving Nazi leaders put on trial.
Charged with Crimes against Humanity, against peace, and war crimes.

6. The Pacific War Japanese empire expands quickly after Pearl Harbor.
Island Hoping: U.S. navy ships marines from island to island attacking Japanese defenses.
U.S. General Douglas MacArthur leads allied military in the Pacific.
Battle of Midway: Turning point of the Pacific war where U.S. sink numerous Japanese aircraft carriers.
Kamikaze: Suicide attacks by Japanese airplanes to destroy U.S. naval ships.
