2. Observation
Information gathered by using one of the five senses
Inference
Deriving a conclusion based solely on what one already knows.
Control group
The group that is not changed (experimentally) and will be used as a comparison
Quantitative
Describing objects with numbers
Qualitative
Describing objects with descriptions

3. Stimulus
something external that promotes an activity or response
Response
is the result of a stimulus.
Scientific method
is a step by step process for experimental investigations in which a hypothesis is proposed and data is collected
Independent variable
The variable that is controlled and changed by the person conducting the experiment (x-axis usually)
Dependent variable
variables that are observed to measure a change as a result of the independent variable (y-axis usually)
