Brainstorm Potential Causes ENCOURAGE team members to write whatever spontaneously occurs to them without critically evaluating it. SPECIFY A TIME LIMIT for the brainstorming session; something like 30 minutes, but a longer or a shorter time may be necessary. Electronic Brainstorm Database We now have a Data Base of Potential Causes of our Problem These were formed from the Brainstorming Output of The Comparative (Is / Is Not ) Analysis The 5M Analysis Traditional Brainstorming Somewhere amongst these POTENTIAL CAUSES may lay the ROOT CAUSE If the ROOT CAUSE is not directly identified, it may be a combination or a derivative of these POTENTIAL CAUSES or alternatively will lead us … to the ROOT CAUSE/S.
