2. Euthanasia Definition
Euthanasia is the word used when someone helps another person to die, usually because they are terminally ill (there is no hope of recovery)

Passive - Ending someone’s life by withholding essential life-giving care.
Active - Acting to end someone’s life, eg, by giving a lethal injection.
Voluntary - Ending life painlessly when someone in great pain asks for death.
Involuntary - Ending someone’s life painlessly when they are unable to ask, but you have good reason for thinking they would want you to do so.

1) A woman who is terminally ill and unable to communicate is being nursed at home by her husband. Her pain is controlled by morphine received through a motorised syringe driver. Her death came when her husband gave her a massive overdose of the drug.
