HW: Slide & Divide HW #s 16-24 Big quiz on Friday (counts as ½ a test grade!) Warm-Up: Find the slope between: (5, 8) & (-2, 4) Change the equation into slope-intercept form: y – 5 = ½(x + 4)

𝑎𝑥 2 +𝑏𝑥+𝑐 Recall Standard Form
We can factor this if a = 1 but what is a ≠ 1? Once again there are many methods but we will just go over one method today!

Step 1: S- Slide Step 2: F- Factor Step 3: D- Divide Step 4: R- Reduce Step 5: S- Swing There is Mnemonic device used for the steps to Factor a polynomial of three terms using this method it is…….. F ish D on’t R eally S wim

Slide & Divide 6x2 – 19x + 15 STEP 1: SLIDE - slide the leading coefficient over to the c term and multiply. Then FACTOR like normal.
6
Slide & Divide 6x2 – 19x + 15 Step 2: DIVIDE – place the original leading coefficient (6) under the numbers you chose (like the 6 is dividing) and then REDUCE.
7
Slide & Divide 6x2 – 19x + 15 Step 3: Since neither fraction simplified to a whole number, SWING the denominator in front of each x :
8
Factor 2x2 + 7x + 6. Slide Divide
