1 e Portfolio Junior Teacher

2 Purpose Purpose: To show my progress with using ICT skills. To develop an understanding of how e portfolios can be used to record childrens on-going learning and achievement. To show children are using ICT in the class, in a meaningful way, and their skills are progressing.

3 Art Rage Bugs The children have created bugs to be used for writing goal work. Bugs created in art rage Art rage bugs finally printed by copying and pasting. Not clear how I managed to get them to copy and paste.

4 E books 1 The children are creating an e book each about food. Purpose to gain skills in using I.C.T and to introduce knowledge of e-books Provide meaningful practise with literacy. The children worked with either child 1 or Child 2 as these two children emerged as our experts for this activity. Child 1 and Child 2 were skilled at explaining and showing the other children what to do. I also observed them helping some of the children to sound out the words they wanted to use for writing their captions and to locate the letters on the key board. The children enjoyed making these and were able to operate fairly independently with the support of one of our class experts. Example: Student slideshow 1 Next step to use the skills the children have gained while making this e book in a meaningful context and to ensure their knowledge and I.C.T. skills are continuing to develop

5 E Book 2- Butterfly life cycles This e-book was linked to our literacy programme and our special butterfly garden. Shared book: The very hungry caterpillar and various books showing butterfly life cycles. We had a real life crisis in our butterfly garden lots of caterpillars and no foliage left on the swan plants for them to eat. Solution to re-locate the caterpillars. Task children to sequence a series of photos and write captions to show their understanding of the butterfly life cycle Example: These examples show that child 1 has moved from a basic slide show to adding animation and voice Student slideshow 2 Student slideshow 3

6 E Book 3 –To show learning throughout Inquiry into:- What makes our native birds special? I.C.T. Term Two 2011 - Integrated into our Inquiry unit & School Production Room 1 – What makes our native birds special? - Production, wearable art inspired by native birds Purpose The children will create an e-book to demonstrate and share their learning throughout this inquiry. Using the art rage programme the children will create art work to incorporate into their e-books. Selected pieces of this art work will be used as a back drop during our wearable arts performance, inspired by our knowledge of birds. Use email in a class context to communicate with out bird expert Use u-tube to watch clips of native birds Search on line to gather and discuss information Technical Skills to be developed I am learning how to Use the mouse Save my work using the purple disk symbol Insert pictures into my page Animate my picture to suit my information Chose picture and u-tube clips to insert in my e-book to support my information (Digital Citizenship Literacy section) Literacy I am learning how to Use text, animation and pictures, both photos and those drawn on art rage to create an interesting published piece of work to share my learning/findings with others. Ask questions and use a range of information sources to find information - (Digital Citizenship Literacy section ) Learning Sequence: (So far…) Set up cover and contents page for e book Draw Kiwi using Art Rage – Animate Write up our wonderings page Research to answer our wonderings Explore and decide on best way to present out findings and information on our e book This will become a cycle where we investigate 2 native birds as a class. Then the children will split into expert groups and research a bird chosen by their group and present this info in their e books and then share their findings with the class
