You have permission to use and modify this template for creating virtual training classes, provided that you do not make it available for sale (or re-sale) to others, and that you give proper attribution to the source (

2 10 min WELCOME participants to the program.
If bandwidth allows, turn on webcams during introductions, to briefly give learners a visual of you and of each other. Turn off after introductions. HAVE participants introduce themselves using CHAT, sharing their name, their role, their current location, and the length of time they’ve been with the organization. Comment on introductions as appropriate. Encourage participants to chat with each other, to begin building a comfortable learning environment. INTRODUCE yourself to the group. Include the following information: Your name & location Your role and experience with the training topic ASK participants to ‘raise hand’ if they have the handout printed, or to click on the red X (disagree) if they do not. For those who need it, draw their attention to the File share pod where this handout is uploaded. MOVE TO the “Guidelines” slide. SAY: On screen is a short list of guidelines for our success in today’s online class. Who’s willing to read the first one aloud for us, please raise your hand. {Wait for volunteer(s) to respond and let them read. Repeat for each guideline. ASK: Who’s willing to follow these guidelines to help make our program successful? Please select the ‘agree’ status (or ‘raise hand’). {acknowledge responses.} SAY: It looks like we have an eager group who is ready to learn! We will continue using the chat window, as well as the status indicators and verbal dialogue throughout today’s session. Your active participation is both requested and required! ASSIST participants with chat introductions as needed. ENSURE “Introductions” slide is displayed. INTRODUCE yourself both verbally and in the chat. Let everyone know you are available to assist with any technical issues. ENSURE handout is uploaded into a File Share pod for those who might need it. ALLOW participants to clear their own status. If needed, clear it for them. ANNOTATE the “Guidelines” slide, by using the pointer or highlighter to note key words as they are spoken. SWITCH to “Program Overview” layout before moving to next slide.
