5. Demise of the nation state?
Hyper-globalizers: yes, unstoppable techno-economic forces crush all attempts to stop global trends. State (government) super-conductor for global capitalism
Political power stays in glo-cal networks in a borderless world. States unable to rule: currency, military, law, etc..
Regional blocs of power
Sceptics: Politics unleash global forces and can still block them (i.e. treaties). Territory still matters: cities and supernational powers. Also, the state still control education, population and security
