All About Ms. Warner Graduated from Central Washington University with bachelor degrees in law and justice/political science Masters in Teaching from Northwest University Last several years in Renton teaching 3rd grade at Cascade Elementary Teaching Philosophy Positive reinforcement Spending time reading- build a love for reading Differentiated Instruction- whole group, partner work, small groups and 1:1 conferring Pre-assessments, check-ins to guide instruction Social-emotional learning, helping students self-regulate and find what works best for them

literacy I teach according to a Balanced Literacy Approach, integrating reading and writing: Phonics and spelling instruction Making Meaning (reading comprehension) supplemented with Lucy Calkins- Teacher’s College Reading Workshop. Units: Reading Growth Spurt, Non-Fiction, Amping up Reading Power with Bigger Books, Book clubs, Fairy tales and Cause and Effect Writer’s Workshop – Lucy Calkins Units: Narrative, Informational, Opinion, and Poetry Sharing and Oral Presentations – due weekly on sharing day And introducing…Thursday Book Bags (October)

Thursday Book Bags When? What are they?
Available for check out each Thursday and returned on Tuesday, starting next week. Who? All students are invited to participate but need to have a parent signature by Sept. 27th. What are they? Themed literacy bags for continued reading support on the weekends with activities the whole family can enjoy! Why? To allow students to read different types of literature

math – eureka math Students are learning math in a way that will prepare them for the higher demands of college and careers today and in the future with focused math skills and real-world, challenging problems. See parent roadmaps for your child’s grade level to review anticipated learning. At the beginning of each module, read the Parent Tip Sheet to get an overview of the topics your child will be learning and how you can support this learning at home. The first two modules are provided for you. Eureka Math lessons can be customized by teachers to meet the varying needs of students.

You must sign up for conferences ONLINE The conferences will run from 8- 3:30 each day, with a daily lunch break. Your child IS invited to conferences this year! The students will be presenting their portfolios to you, sharing their learning with pride! Conference dates are and 12.6

Purple Folders: need to be at school every day please =) Snacks- please send two small snacks daily. I have extra if you forget. And would love donations. Birthday Policy- No treats please. Students will have lunch to celebrate with the teachers. Lunch money- in an envelope please, with full name and lunch number FERPA/Picture information: Cannot post student pictures from school functions on social media Change of afternoon transportation: Contact office DIRECTLY, please! And I appreciate being included.
