ITE January Intake Exercise IMPORTANT POINTERS!!! There is keen competition for places in ITE NITEC. Not participating in the Main Application Phase greatly reduces likelihood of gaining a place in ITE. Students need to exercise the full 12 choices and include less popular options to maximise their chances of a successful posting.

18 JUNYUAN SECONDARY SCHOOL
ITE January Intake Exercise IMPORTANT POINTERS!!! N(T) students with 0, 1 pass can apply for e- NFP as an additional option. N(A) students need to understand that they are on ‘an equal footing’ with N(T) students in ITE’s admission process.

Considerations for your education and career pathways

65 The 3 ECG Questions Students might want to use these guiding questions when considering their next step forward Who am I? Where can I go from here? How can I achieve my aspirations?

66 Talking points: Help our students understand that no matter what situation they are currently in, there are many options available for them. As educators, our role is to help our students realize that there are multiple bridges and ladders at any given point of their life which can help them move closer towards achieving their goals. Hence, before going into the specific details of what the various PSEI tracks entail, let’s take a few minutes to recall some of the options available to our pupils. Do remember that each option caters to the aptitudes and needs of different types of learners. Remind your student to consider which environment will help them optimize their potential Note: The use of ‘our students’ can be replaced with ‘your child’ when addressing parents.

Think through your decision carefully as picking the right education pathway will have significant impact on your future. Consider the 3 Rs. Reasons (Why are your furthering your studies?) For better job prospects? Consider carefully whether a private education qualification will be recognised by your prospective employer or the industry. It is best to find out if the qualification is recognised by the relevant professional bodies in Singapore. For career movement or transition? Consider if ythe education that you intend to pursue is relevant to your future career. Will it equip you with the necessary skills and competencies that employers look for? Readiness (How ready are you to further your studies?) Can you cope with the academic rigour and assignment deadlines (esp. if you are thinking of working full-time and studying part-time)? Can you fund your studies? Courses in private schools can be expensive. You should not commit if you are not certain whether you can pay for the course without putting too much financial burden on yourself or your family. Risks (Do you know the possible drawbacks?) Your expected returns may not exceed the investments that you put into your private education. Private schools may make exaggerated claims. Private schools may close due to various reasons. You may not get back a full refund if you withdraw from your course. It is important for students to consider if there will be any major changes in personal or work commitments that may affect or disrupt your studies.
