All Matter is made of 3 substances:
Elements: Defined as the simplest forms of matter that cannot be broken down into a simpler form by chemical means while still retaining it’s chemical identity. You can recognize them because they each have only one Capital Letter. Elements come in “packages” called Atoms. “Symbol” “Diatoms” are elements that only occur as a pair (2) in nature. These end with –gen (Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen) H2, O2, N2 or –ine (Flourine, Chlorine, Bromine, Iodine) F2, Cl2, Br2, I2 What “charge” do elements have??? ZERO “0” Zip, Nada! (Neutral) This is why they are “safe to touch”. If they have a +/- charge, they are called…. “Ions”. “Can’t touch this!”

All Matter is made of 3 substances:
Compounds: Two or more elements that are chemically “bonded” (combined” and have definite proportions. Al-(NO3)3 polyatomic Mixtures:

This year is all about… Ionic Chemistry = Inorganic “covalent” = organic (not taught until college)
According to Ionic Chemistry, all substances fit 3 categories: Acids Bases Salts Ionic vs. Covalent NaCl NO2
