Does it guarantee a place in a grammar school?
Due to the common oversubscription of grammar schools, a child that passes the Kent Test will not automatically get a grammar school place. If your child passes – the schools admissions policy is then taken in to account and followed.

Grammar schools In Canterbury: Barton Court Grammar School Simon Langton Boys’ Grammar School Simon Langton Girls’ Grammar School See the full list in the leaflet for other local grammar schools.

Choosing Schools The process by which you choose your schools remains the same: Find details of their open evening/days Go along with your child Ensure that you also visit comprehensive schools as you will need to put them down as choices later in year. If you do not choose a non-grammar school or your child does not pass the test they could be given a place in any school that has vacancies. Closing date for completing a Secondary common Application form is 31st October 2018. There will be more information at the start of year 6 about the school admissions process.

Talk to your child’s current teacher if you need support making your decision. Remember – it must be a decision you discuss with your child. This is a pass or fail test and they will need to be prepared for this. The school is not allowed to teach/coach the children to pass the test. You can download and purchase familiarisation materials. GL assessment WHSmith/Amazon
