4 Standardized Testing SAT ACT Sections:
English Mathematics Reading Science + Optional Writing section (for an additional fee) Score ranges from 1-36, 21 is the National Average One test – before the end of junior year or early fall senior year. SAT Sections: Critical Reading/Writing and Language Mathematics + Optional SAT Essay (for an additional fee) Score ranges Super Score Take at least 2 times. No more than 3 times! Note IB testing when registering for the SAT. You might be surprised by everything that’s new about the new SAT: All-new essay — and it’s optional No penalty for guessing No vocab that you’ll never use again The best way to prepare for the test is to: Take challenging courses. Do your homework. Prepare for tests and quizzes. Ask and answer lots of questions. Practice Questions on the College Board website. Practice!!

8 Campus Visits. Mind the calendar. Meet the experts.
Schedule your tour when school is in session. Meet the experts. Talk to the current students—they may soon be your peers. Meet the other experts. Talk to admission counselors. Interview with a representative (schedule this in advance)

9 Campus visits CONTINUED…
Take the campus tour… Attend an admissions event Eat on campus See a dorm room Ask tons of questions …then venture out on your own. Explore the parts of campus that may not have been included on the tour Take pictures Be a student for a day (or night). Save the best for last. Visit the schools you think are your favorite last.

10 Questions to ask: How are roommates selected?
How long are dorm accommodations guaranteed? Do students go home on the weekend? Is there Greek life on this campus? What are the class sizes like? Who teaches the class? How do freshman get around town without a car? See college-tour for more examples of questions to ask
