1 Unlocking the DOR Code Neuron
Matthew E. Rogers, Stuart J. Firestein  Neuron  Volume 30, Issue 2, Pages (May 2001) DOI: /S (01)

2 Figure 1 Schematic Overview of a Mammalian and Fly Olfactory Epithelium Left, olfactory epithelia (OE) of flies and mammals are partitioned into broad functional zones (I–VII). Right, both systems are amenable to extracellular physiological recordings. However, in the fly, olfactory sensory neurons (OSN) are compartmentalized into hair-like structures (sensilla) arrayed along the antennal surface in stereotyped locations. In this issue of Neuron, de Bruyne et al. utilized this neuronal organization to construct a functional map of the Drosophila antenna. SC, support cell. Top right figure, modified from Lancet (1986) Neuron  , DOI: ( /S (01) )
