A group of people share the cost and the profits from the colony. Joint-Stock Company

7. JAMESTOWN, VA VA was the first English colony that worked
The VA Company was a joint-stock Co. (Profit!)
Economic success for Jamestown = tobacco

8. Native Americans
Indians faced the choice of helping or fighting the English. They did both.
Main Issue was LAND
Though they outnumbered the English, Indians faced the problem of disease

13. Labor Agriculture (farming) requires a lot of workers (labor)
