2. Mexican National Era
Alright Let’s talk about Change, Mexican National Era was a big deal when it came to Texas. In fact one of the Largest changes that came about during this time was The establishment of Anglo Settlements.

3. Lets talk about Dates, What was so important about the following Date 1821
Mexico Declared independence from Spain..
This was HUGE, Spain was trying to control
But didn’t support the colony’s much
But still demanded 20% of everything

4. The Mexican federal constitution of 1824
This constitution did many things, however the most important thing that it did was restrict religious rights, Like most Spaniards they required you to be Catholic so in that way the constitution restricted Religious rights.

5. Phillip Nolan Horse trader Filibuster
Marched into Nacogdoches and declared independence from Spain.
This ultimately led to his execution in 1822

6. Spanish Concern over Nolan
The Spanish were terribly concerned over Phillip Nolan, They suspected that he was not merely a horse trader but rather (and rightfully so) That he was plotting to claim land in Texas for the united states.

This merger ultimately resulted in Political Tensions that divided the Region

11. How did Martin De Leon’s Colony Differ from Dewitt’s colony?
It was settled by Mexican Families

12. Where did Green Dewitt establish his colony?
The Dewitt Colony (ca. 1820s through the 1840s) was a settlement in Mexican Texas founded by Green DeWitt. From lands belonging to that colony, the present Texas counties of DeWitt, Guadalupe and Lavaca were created.
More importantly (Write this down) The Dewitt Colony was near what is present day Gonzales.

Represented Texas at the Mexican National Convention.

14. Who am I?
Okay, I made significant contributions to the development of Texas, Infact I founded the Largest Anglo Settlement in Texas.

Now remember the Spanish when colonizing Texas used Missions and Presidio’s while Anglo (once again, what is anglo) Settlers used Empresario’s and Land Grants.
