Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland NHS 24 NHS Education for Scotland NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde IRISS A national strategic partnership between the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland, NHS Scotland, IRISS and public libraries was established early 2017. During Self-Management Week in October 2017, these organisations supported libraries to promote their contribution to self-management which included the creation of a health and care information toolkit Getting the right information every time which would help to support libraries in all sectors to build their role in health literacy and self-management. Getting the Right Information Every Time Conference
Aileen Campbell MSP, Minister for Public Health Dr Gregor Smith, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Knowledge Markets Opportunities for Strategic Development At the end of January 2018, the Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC) held a national health information conference, Getting the Right Information Every time in Glasgow. The conference brought together library and information service partners with health practitioners and managers, from across the local authorities, NHS, and third sector. The opening address was by Aileen Campbell MSP, Minister for Public Health followed by Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Gregor Smith who discussed “Library and information services across the NHS, local authorities, health and care practitioners and the voluntary sector have a key role to play in achieving a joined-up, coherent to making use of many types of knowledge. NHS LIS - evidence base for delivery of care and quality assured patient and public information. Public Libraries – quality assured patient and public information, signposting to community information and support The day also included presentations to showcase some of the examples of what has happening in a local areas in Scotland.

Cancer Support Services Glasgow Life Macmillan Cancer Information and Support services at Edinburgh, West Dunbartonshire, West Lothian and Argyll & Bute Libraries Living Well with Macmillan Cancer the Library (Renfrewshire) Libraries supporting those with hearing loss Providing hearing aid batteries and support from libraries in the Lothian partnership, North Ayrshire and Perth & Kinross.
