Geography is… The study of Earth’s landscapes, peoples, places and environments. It is, quite simply, about the world in which we live.

Location: tells you where it is
Absolute: latitude & longitude Ex: Comerica Park is located at 42.3° N, 83.04° W Relative: Defined by the things around you Ex: Comerica Park is located west of Ford Field

2. Place: what is it like when you get there
Physical Characteristics: Things that are naturally there. (Ex: Mountains, rivers,beaches) Human Characteristics: Things created by humans (ex: man made structures, population)

3. Movement: people and ideas get around
Ex: Food, religion, trade

4. Human - Environment Interaction:How people depend on the environment, adapt to it and modify it.
Ex: Pollution, planting trees, highways, wearing a jacket when it’s cold Roosevelt’s tree army planted nearly 500 million trees in Northern MI from These trees are still there today.

5. Regions: what do locations have in common
ex: language, climate, political borders, historical background
