Prokaryotic Versus Eukaryotic
2
Prokaryotes Eukaryotes Cells can be broken into two main categories:
All bacteria Have no nucleus No membrane bound organelles All single-celled Small, Eukaryotes Kingdoms of Protists, Fungi, Plants, Animals Have nuclei and membrane-bound organelles such as mitochondria Some single-celled, but most multi-cell
3
Prokaryotic: Bacteria; bacillus and staphylococcus
4
Eukaryotic cells: Red blood cell and nerve cell
5
Basic Eukaryotic Cell
6
Eukaryotic cells have Organelles
Have specific functions Very small size Can only be observed under a microscope Found in cytoplasm Perform a very specific function for the cell, just like our organs do for our bodies
7
Two Main Types of Eukaryotic Cells
Animal Cell Plant Cell
