TEKS: (8)Student applies mathematical process standards to collect and organize data to make it useful for interpreting information. Essential Question: How can we organize data to understand it better? Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Lesson Plan Read One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish Count and tally sheet Sort and goldfish and graph the data in the bar graph. Read Cat in the Hat Count to 100 by ones Complete the mystery picture using the 100 chart. Read The Lorax Use patter blocks to make the mustache and graph how many it took. Complete addition Cat in the Hat coloring sheet. Read The Foot Book Complete the foot measurement activity with partners. Color Cat in the hat shape picture. Students will participate in a whole group counting and number recognition activity. Partners will play number recognition and writing activities. Math Stations Vocabulary Graph Data Collect Pictograph Bar graph Tally Higher order questions/ELLs Discuss with your partner how you know which color goldfish had the most. How would you orally demonstrate reading a graph? Write using vocabulary words: collect, data, and graph. Explain what the problem is with this statement? A bar graph uses pictures to show data. Use formal/informal English to discuss what you favorite graph is. Assessment Strategy Students will participate in number recognition and writing activities with their partners.
