Workplace experiences that enable students and workers to gain and practice the knowledge and skills they need to enter and advance in specific careers Examples: Project supervision or mentoring by a professional staff member Workplace tours Job shadows Internships Apprenticeships

4 What are the costs? WBL experiences can be designed to match your available resources – both time and dollars – to benefit both the trainees and the business: Job shadowing, workplace tours, project supervision and guest speaking can be offered with little or no direct cost Internships and apprenticeship may involve more time and financial investment but also have larger returns

5 How do we get started? LIST STEPS FOR HOW SMALL BUSINESS PARTNERS CAN WORK WITH YOUR PROGRAM / ORGANIZATION (Example below): Let us know you are interested in offering a WBL opportunity for students or trainees and what industry your business is in. Our business engagement staff will meet with you to learn more about your business and the WBL opportunities you can offer. Our team will assess which of our programs would be the best fit and coordinate with you and our students to design and implement a high-quality WBL experience.
