3 What’s OGS Since 1975, the OGS program has been providing merit-based scholarships to Ontario’s best graduate students in all disciplines of academic study. Jointly funded by the Province of Ontario and the University of Toronto/Daniels Faculty Encourages excellence in graduate studies Most recent data available is for the academic year

4 How much and for how long?
$5,000 per term or $15,000 for September 2019 to August 2020 (fall, winter and summer) Tenable for one year Most recent data available is for the academic year

5 Application deadlines
International students – March 11, 2019 Domestic students (Canadian citizens/permanent resident students) – Thursday, April 25, 2019 11:59pm EST Application submission time and date are both captured on the online application system. Applications submitted after these deadlines WILL NOT be viewed or reviewed. Most recent data available is for the academic year

6 Who is eligible to apply?
Citizenship Canadian citizen Permanent Resident Permanent residency must be valid and effective by OGS domestic application deadline Protected Person under subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada) by the student deadline as determined by each graduate unit International student (on study permit) Valid study permit must be effective as of the OGS international application deadline Most recent data available is for the academic year

7 Who is eligible to apply?
Students applying to, or currently in, Daniels graduate programs Master of Architecture – includes advanced standing program Master of Landscape Architecture – includes advanced standing program Master of Urban Design Master of Visual Studies Be registered or intend to register in an eligible program on a full-time basis for the entire academic year (Sept 2019 to April 2020) In at least 60% of a full course load In 40% of a full course load for students with a permanent disability Most recent data available is for the academic year

8 Who is eligible to apply?
Have not exceeded the lifetime maximum of government-funded support or maximum OGS support available ​for their current level of study Master's students may receive the scholarship for a maximum of two years Lifetime maximum of six years of government-funded awards Students holding an OGS cannot hold another government-funded award concurrently Most recent data available is for the academic year

9 Who is eligible to apply?
Have achieved at least A- (or equivalent) EITHER In each of the last two completed years of study (full-time equivalent) OR As overall average on all graduate courses completed – for students who have completed two years of graduate studies Most recent data available is for the academic year

10 Application requirements
Academic transcripts Both undergraduate and graduate If currently registered, transcripts must show current course registration Must be unprotected (not secure) Max file size = 4MB Unofficial or Web transcripts ok BUT must include legend/grading scale Most recent data available is for the academic year

11 Application requirements
Previous awards, publications, conference, research experience Plan of study Your proposed research project and course of study for the academic year It will be fine should you decide to change your research project in future years. Your rationale for engaging in master’s studies at Daniels Most recent data available is for the academic year

12 Application requirements
Academic references – two Ask your referees in advance if they will be able to provide an excellent academic reference for you. You can only submit your online OGS application when both references are complete. SO give your referees a deadline date that is WAAY BEFORE your deadline date. Most recent data available is for the academic year

15 Tips for completing the OGS application
Academic References Requested completion date = enter a date WAAAY BEFORE your April 25 submission deadline date Monitor your OGS application right around this date. If reference has not been completed, follow up with your referee personally. You will not be able to view their completed reference. Your referees will not be able to view any portion of your OGS application. You can only submit your online OGS application when both references are complete. Most recent data available is for the academic year

Review entire application before clicking on Submit button. Submit by application deadline. Applications submitted after the deadlines WILL NOT be viewed or reviewed. Most recent data available is for the academic year

17 What happens next Applications submitted by deadline are reviewed for
Completeness AND Eligibility Eligible applications reviewed and scored by Daniels awards committee Composed of Daniels faculty members

18 What happens next - international
Early April – Daniels’ OGS application nominated to School of Graduate Studies Late April – applicants not forwarded can see status of their application Mid-May – Daniels’ OGS nomination competes with other OGS nominations from other UT graduate units SGS notifies international OGS recipients

19 What happens next - domestic
Early June - Daniels’ OGS award decisions forwarded to School of Graduate Studies All applicants can see their results on their OGS application SGS does final review and confirmation of eligibility Early July - Official award offers made First instalment of award – made available on ACORN accounts in September
