(A) A specimen reconstructed with expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) is not unified with the surrounding tissue even after 4 weeks. Foreign body reactions (white arrows) are observed, and the expanded polytetrafluoroethylene patch could be easily detached (black arrows). (B) Autologous fascia lata is buried in the tissue as if it is a part of the original diaphragm. Viable cells and vessels are present, and no inflammatory reaction is observed.
