Mr. Brown’s Example Essay
Prompt: Explain why actions matter more than words. People say that talk is cheap. Anyone can say anything, but it’s your actions who really prove who you are. Actions matter more than words because people often lie about their true intentions. It’s hard to imagine the horror of WWII. Even after going through the Great War, what they called WWI at the time, the people of the world were not prepared for the death and destruction that would come. In the late 1930’s, Hitler had gained control of Germany and was furiously building up their army and stockpiles. All of Europe began to get nervous and went to Germany for reassurance they would not go to war. Without hesitation, Hitler and top Germans assured them that they were not planning on invading any other countries and only wanted peace. Promptly after issuing that proclamation, Germany invaded Poland. Hitler talked a good talk, he got people to believe him and back down. They were unprepared for him to invade, which is what he wanted. But his true intention came through in his actions. The actions of Nazi Germany are infamous, talked about commonly still, 70+ years later. The things that he said and promised have been forgotten in the light of his horrific acts. History remembers the things that we do, from the largest to the smallest, and no amount of words can cover that up.
