1. Where do you want to go today?
We provide the ability to check the deployment status of the U.S. navy at real time with a cellular telephone. By using both a midlet and a servlet to access and parse an html site on the web, we can display current statistics about enlistment and deployment of troops as well as equipment to your phone. There is the potential to receive real time alerts when some specified criteria for change are met, as in the number of ships deployed rose by 7 in two days.

The information that can be provided in the display includes: 
Personnel:

·        Number of enlisted personnel
·        Number of officers
·        Number of ready reserve
·        Status of those reserve
·        Number of personnel on deployment
·        Number of civilian employees
Ships and Submarines:
·        Number of ships
·        Number of ships underway
·        Number of ships on deployment
·        Number of submarines underway
·        Number of submarines on deployment
·        Number of operational aircraft

We can’t tell you if you should buy or sell based on this information.
We can’t tell you if this information is news-worthy
We can’t tell you if this means we are going to war
We can’t give you specifics about where we really are going today

4. So…who cares?
Investors, media personnel, military contractors and potential military contractors, military personnel, veterans, current events junkies, activists. Anyone that is actively pursuing a better understanding of what is taking place in the world. Especially those that have a vested interest in being the first to know of a major change in the number of active troops or ships deployed, and it’s significance in marking a potential major shift in global affairs (media, investors, current and potential military contractors).

5. Feasibility There are two assumptions that are made in this proposal:
1)      The information on this site is maintained and updated when changes happen
2)      The information on this site is accurate
Right now, we are unable to confirm either of these assumptions. With these two assumptions, the idea is feasible. The primary user would have to be the vested interest user described earlier: investors, media personnel, etc. The information seeker from above would have to be considered a secondary user, less in number than the primary user group. The software is straightforward, easy to maintain, and well suited to this type of application, it is robust and efficient.  
Again, assuming that our two assumptions are accurate, this is a feasible project, with potential extensions and the adaptability to manage them.
