This lecture will take you through historical and social change from the1600s to today, focusing on the changing role of women – specifically, what makes them valuable. It will consider the importance of marriage and certain behaviours, and how these have been represented and reinforced in literature. Finally, we will settle on the importance of shopping and why the size of your engagement ring is important! If you would like to build up contextual understanding for your GCSEs or A Levels, or simply add to your record of achievement and give yourself ideas to talk about in interviews, then don’t miss this university-style masterclass. You don’t need to be an avid reader to attend. It is primarily contextual knowledge rather than about a single text!
