Investigation: Sit in pairs or small groups. Select three-dimensional objects. Take turns to select an object. The friends describe and name the object, including naming it a prism or non-prism. Take turns to describe one of the objects without touching the object, naming the object a prism or non-prism. The friends suggest what object it could be. Take it in turns to • select a prism without touching it • describe the faces as a two-dimensional shapes • describe the flat surfaces with straight lines as faces and edges • name the shape a prism or non-prism.
