1 “Electric Chevrolet Bolt to go 238 miles on a charge”

2 General Motors' all-electric Chevrolet Bolt compact car will be able to go 238 miles on a single charge, the automaker announced Tuesday. That's enough to drive from New York City to Washington DC. Perhaps more importantly to GM, it beats the 215 miles Tesla has promised for its upcoming Model 3, a similarly-priced electric car that's expected to go on sale next year. Sales of the Chevrolet Bolt are scheduled to begin before the end of this year. The Bolt is purely electric, like the Tesla. The Bolt's price will start at under $30,000 (Tesla $35,000) and is powered by a 200 horsepower electric motor which will enable it to go from zero to 60 in under seven seconds, which is quick for a small car. Top speed will be about 91 miles per hour. To help maximize the Bolt's range, it's made from lightweight materials such as aluminum, magnesium and carbon fiber. Beating the Model 3 to market will give GM bragging rights for marketing the first "affordable" long-range electric car. Other lower-cost electric cars from major manufacturers, such as the Nissan Leaf or GM's own Chevrolet Spark EV, have had driving ranges of less than 100 miles.

3 In Other News North Korea on Wednesday scoffed at the US Air Force's show of force a day earlier, saying Washington was "bluffing" and "blustering" with the flyover of B-1 bombers. "They are bluffing that B-1Bs are enough for fighting an all-out nuclear war," said a statement from Pyongyang's Korean Central News Agency. Two of the powerful US bombers, joined by US and South Korean fighter jets, flew over Osan Air Base south of Seoul on Tuesday to show US anger with North Korea's nuclear weapons test four days earlier. When America elects a new president, the focus of the nation turns to where it should be -- on the winner. And in that same instant, the defeated challengers fade from the center of the national universe back to a life without Secret Service, adoring crowds, and the daily high-wire of a presidential campaign. They become part of an elite group of American politics that none of them wanted to join: the runners-up for the presidency. What is it like to spend years getting on and off planes, kissing babies, wolfing down junk food, shaking thousands of hands, barely sleeping, while risking failure in front of the whole world? (Interesting article - check it out)
