Many generations of divergent artificial selections for growth have produced striking differences between the heaviest and the lightest mouse lines in the world. Above, a single Dummerstorf High (Germany, right) mouse easily outweighs six Roslin Low (UK, left) mice. Chan and co-workers [8] used these long-term selection lines to perform genomic comparisons, in order to determine the genomic architecture underlying the changes in the complex trait body weight and its response to intense long-term selection.
