2 Objective: Identify dominant and recessive traits in yourself and peers. Determine the ratio of the charactectics evaluated. Analyze the importance of genes and traits.

4 Procedure Prepare your notebook. Write down the date, lab number and topic, objectives, materials and procedure. Start, by taking a strip of thiourea test paper and place it on your tongue. It will taste bitter or tasteless depending on the person. Complete page #1 of the worksheet, evaluating your traits. Circle the answer for each trait you are evaluating on yourself. Using the table on page #2, complete the one in page #3 with the expression of the traits for 20 of your classmates. Answer the questions and conclude your laboratory. This will be due on March 6,

5 Post-lab questions What was your result for the Thiourea Test? Research information on this test, what does it mean? What are the most dominant traits in your classroom? What are the most recessive traits in the classroom? What do we inherit from our parents? Create a table with each one of the characteristics you evaluated and analyze where you inherited it from (mom or dad). Define inheritance, genes, dominance and recessive. Write the conclusion for the experiment. Summarize what you did, what you learned, if the objectives where completed or not.
