Lastly, robots are replacing the need for humans in the workplace. For example, “In 2002, the iRobot Roomba, an automatic vacuum cleaner, was released” and “In 2006, the Scooba, an automatic floor washer, was released.” These inventions are detrimental to the housekeeping and maintenance professions. If robots begin to complete domestic jobs, the need for manpower diminishes. Additionally, humans are being replaced in the transportation field too. For instance, “Self driving cars have driven 300,000 miles without an accident.” Some believe that this is a safer alternative to taxi cab drivers, but many do not realize the impact on the unemployment rate. Many people will lose their jobs and the ability to provide for their families. Assistance from robots may seem beneficial, but it is negatively affecting many human lives.
