1 2-3 Solving Two-Step Equations
Goal: Use two transformations to solve an equation Eligible Content: A / A /A

2 Think of opening a present
First you remove the bow. Then you remove the wrapping paper. Finally you know what is inside! First, get rid of addition and subtraction Then, get rid of multiplication and division Finally, you know what x is!

3 8x + 35 = x = x = - 3

4 Examples 5x – 2 = 23 -3x + 7 = 58 -4 = 6x + 8 2 + 3x = -13 5 – 4x = 21

5 Solve 6v + 7 = –5. Check your solution.
A. v = –2 B. v = –6 C. v = 2 D.

6 Examples with Fractions
𝑥+7 8 =5 x = 20 p = -162 m = 98 x = 33

7 Examples with Decimals
-3.7 = 2n + 5.1 x ≈ x ≈ 5.04 m = .36 n = -4.4 If you have to round your answer you should NOT use an equal sign (=), you have to use the symbol that means approximately!

8 Practice Worksheet – “2-3 Solving Two-Step Equations Level B” #1-20

9 Homework Pages #12-22 even #30-38 even #42-46 even
