Most of them use their own data sources and administrative records. For example Central Bank uses its own records, banking system records, TurkStat surveys and some special data sources.

National Account Department of TurkStat is mainly responsible for GDP figures. Many of the ministries and institutions use GDP figures to obtain special indicators.

GDP by production and by expenditures are estimated in current and constant prices quarterly. For the time being, annual figures are obtained as sum of quarters. GDP by income components was last published for the year 2006.

Main classification for estimates is Nace 1. The revision studies for classification and income components will be finalized in very near future.

Adopting the new standards provide a more relevant conceptual basis for measuring economic and financial conditions. It also ensures that Turkey’s statistics are comparable with those of other countries.

This achievement is the result of a major undertaking that is referred to, in statistical terms, as an historical revision.

This hard work will be finalized at the end of this year. Construction of tables and analysis will be finished before the end of the next year. After that, changing base year, revision studies and independent annual estimates will be carried out.

Fishing data are obtained from surveys. Forestry data are obtained from administrative records of ministry.

Construction data are obtained from Structural Business Surveys, quarterly production surveys and construction material surveys.

Transport, storage and communication data are obtained from Structural Business Surveys, quarterly administrative data for State Railways and Transportation Surveys. Financial Institutions data are obtained from Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency, Central Bank. And insurance company figures are obtained from Treasury.

Private households with employed person data are obtained from Household Budget Surveys.

The Report of Supreme Audit Board and Social Security Institution are the other data providers. Household Labor Force Surveys is also data source for National Accounts.
