Dual-Energy CT in Children: Imaging Algorithms and Clinical Applications
With dual-energy CT, clinical images are obtained at high- and low-energy spectra, allowing differences in material composition to be depicted. Dual-energy CT images are helpful in assessment of the arterial system, lung perfusion, neoplasm, bowel diseases, renal calculi, tumor response to treatment, and metal implants. Dual-energy CT can be performed with radiation exposure level that is equivalent to or less than that of conventional single-energy CT. Automated bone subtraction using dual energy CT. 6-month-old boy with hypertension: tapering of abdominal aorta (arrows) with decreased caliber of iliac arteries is consistent with midaortic syndrome.
