2 What do all governments have in common?
All governments (yes, even monarchies and dictatorships) have the same three powers of government: Legislative Executive Judicial How the government organizes or hands out that power is how we can tell them apart.

3 Federal System of Government
A system of government where power is shared between a central government and states or provinces Example: The United States Argentina

4 Unitary System of Government
A system of government where almost all power is controlled by the central government. Example: Japan

5 Parliamentary System of Government
A system of government where the legislative (law- making) group has power and the leader of the country is part of the legislature Example: United Kingdom New Zealand

6 Confederal System of Government
A system of government where power is given to the independent states and there is little power given to the central government Example: The United States under the Articles of The European Union Confederation
