Reading: Compare and Contrast
We will learn how to compare and contrast the most important points presented by two texts on the same topic.
Writing
Choose a writing prompt from the April writing calendar
Spend time editing/ revising once you have finished your piece
Math: Add and Subtract within 1,000
We will learn how to add and subtract within 1,000 using strategies based on place value. We will also learn how to explain (in a written format) why addition and subtraction strategies work by stating the strategy used, transition words, and vocabulary words (such as regroup, decompose, funny number, add, subtract, etc.).

Writing: Informational Writing
We will review how to write an informational writing piece by writing our All About 2nd Grade books that will be shared at the end of the year party. These books will include a table of contents, informational pages, all about the author page, and favorite memory page.

S.O.S. for the weekly words – easy, enough, upon
Reading
Read (nonfiction) aloud for 20 minutes and practice determining the main topic of the book
Raz Kids
Science: Life Cycles
We will determine the sequence of the life cycle of 4 common animals (mammal, bird, amphibian, insect) and model the life cycle of a plant from seed to maturity by recording changes over a period of time.
S.S./ Science
Write an Informational Writing piece that explains all about the life cycle of a plant

We will review reading the following vowel teams – oe, oo, ey, ou, igh.
