Station 2: Entering the Room
You are not to enter the classroom before Mrs. Brock tells you it is ok to enter. If Mrs. Brock is not in the classroom, or around the door, you are not to enter. When you enter the room, you are expected to pick up materials and begin bell work. You are to be silent. This means you are not supposed to speak during bell work. Speaking before the 5 minutes is up, will result in a step if you do not get back on task after being redirected. You are not to wander around the classroom. You are to enter the room, when Mrs. Brock says you may enter, pick up any materials you need, sit in your seat, and begin bell work. You may not leave the classroom once you have entered, therefore you should come with all materials ready. Station 2 Questions: Answer in complete sentences. When are you allowed to enter the classroom? What are you expected to do when you enter?

Station 4: Class Signals / Getting Mrs. Brock’s Attention
Mrs. Brock does not like it when people walk up to her and stand closely. Everyone deserves to have their own personal space. Also, it is not respectful to interrupt conversations others are already having with the teacher. So, how do you get Mrs. Brock’s attention? You do NOT get out of your seat until you have gotten to go ahead from Mrs. Brock. You will use one of the three class signals. They are as followed: Sharpen Pencil Question Bathroom Station 4 Questions: Answer in complete sentences. Where are the hand signals posted in the classroom? What is the incorrect way to get Mrs. Brock’s attention?

Station 5: School Wide Behavior Policy
All of the classes at Rocky Fork Middle School will adhere to the School Wide Behavior Policy. It is a step system put in place to help you in keeping your behavior under control. There are 4 steps that each teacher is in control of before you receive a dean referral. Every step after the first step will result in a parent phone call. If you receive a step, I will place the step paper on your desk. You must see me after class to discuss what your consequence will be (based upon the next step on your plan). The steps are as follows: Warning Educational Assignment (of the teacher’s choosing) Early Morning School (7:15-7:45) 9th Period (3:15-4:00) Dean Referral Station 5 Questions: Answer in complete sentences. Which steps require a call home? When do you receive a dean referral?

You are also not allowed to use the restroom when Mrs. Brock is speaking to the entire class (whole group). When you do have the appropriate time to ask permission to use the restroom, you are to follow the appropriate hand signal. When Mrs. Brock gives you permission, you must bring her two things: Your filled out agenda - appropriate date, time, task Your index card - Also filled out with the appropriate date, time, and task You are only allowed 3 restroom breaks during my class per nine weeks. Station 7: Independent Work Expectations
Independent work is work that you will do by yourself. During independent work, Mrs. Brock expects you to work silently and on your own. We will do partner work and group work, but independent work is how I will assess what YOU know. You are not allowed to talk to anyone during independent work. If you have any questions during independent work, you will ask Mrs. Brock, not the student beside you. Talking during independent work will result in a step on your behavior plan. Also, you are required to do your work during independent work time. This is not a time for sleeping or playing on your cell phone (or device). Be on task. Station 7 Questions: Answer in complete sentences. What can you do during independent time? What is the consequence for being off task during independent work time?

Station 8: Group Work Expectations
Group work is a time to work productively with the other students in your group. There may be times, like this week, when you will be allowed to choose your groups, but for the most part I will choose your groups based upon the previous test/quiz/benchmark results. The expectations for group work are that you be a productive member of your group (every student should be writing the work on his/her paper) and doing the role assigned to you, be respectful to the other group members using the accountable talk points on your desk in orange (not calling other people stupid, etc.), and that you stay with your group (if we are moving around the classroom you are only moving when told to move). ** YOU MAY NOT TALK TO ANYONE WHO IS NOT IN YOUR GROUP!!!** All group work can become independent work for students who are not adhering to the expectations. Station 8 Question: Answer in a complete sentence. What are the group work expectations?

Station 9: Transitions We will have several transitions during each class: Bell work to discussion Discussion to Partner/group work Partner/group work to independent work Independent work to closure/exit ticket You are to follow instructions quickly and quietly between each transition. There is no need for talking in between. If you are asked to get with your group, you are to do so quickly (less than 1 minute) and without discussion. The most important thing to remember is that you should do this quickly and quietly. Station 9 Questions: Answer in complete sentences. What is a transition? What is the correct way to transition?

You will have homework sometimes, but it is necessary that you complete your homework so that you can complete the activity in class. *Every morning we will have SSR after announcements. This is a perfect time to complete any reading homework you have not completed (IF the assignment is to READ!)* If you are absent, you should ask your partner for any assignments. You only have one class day to complete the assignment. **WE DO WORK EVERY DAY, REGARDLESS OF IF YOU ARE HERE OR NOT.** Assignments may be posted on the class website.* If you miss a quiz/test, it is your responsibility to schedule a make up with Mrs. Brock. Station 10 Question: Answer in a complete sentence. How long do you have to complete a missing assignment (due to an absence)?

You are allowed to have water. No other beverages are allowed in the classroom. If I see you with food, I will kindly ask you to throw it away. If it is something consistent, It will be added to your behavior steps. *GUM-- If I do not see or hear your gum, you may have it. Examples of seeing/hearing gum: loud or open-mouthed chewing, blowing bubbles, distributing gum to other students, etc. Station 11: Answer in complete sentences. What types of food are you allowed to have in class (any 8A class)? Are you allowed to have gum? Explain.

Station 12: Substitutes There are times when Mrs. Brock will have to be absent. During that time you will have a substitute teacher. You are expected to be respectful to your substitute teacher. They are here to be your teacher, when your teacher cannot be here. Being disrespectful to a substitute, not doing your assignment, not doing what they ask of you, speaking in a disrespectful manner/tone, lying, not sitting in your correct seat, etc., will result in a dean referral/principal referral and possibly one day OSS. ** THIS ALSO GOES FOR ANY ADULT IN THE BUILDING, FROM TEACHERS TO CUSTODIANS** * I will leave sub coupons (for free assignments) and I will grade the work left to be completed* Station 12 Question: Answer in complete sentences. What are the consequences for being disrespectful to a substitute (or any adult)?
14
Station 13: Tardies All 8th grade:
Anyone not in his/her seat when the bell rings is tardy. Tardies will be handled according to the school wide behavior steps. This is separate from classroom behavior; therefore, you can earn two steps in one class on the same day. These are different categories. Tardy Steps: Warning Educational Assignment Early Morning School 9th Period Dean Referral Station 13 Questions: Answer in complete sentences. When will a phone call be made home for tardies? How many steps can you receive from one teacher per class?

Station 14: Respect/Responsibility
Respect: Part of teaching is helping mold students into well rounded young adults. Young adults are expected to respectful. Regardless of how you act outside of the building, when you are at Rocky Fork Middle School we expect you to be respectful to all adults, students, staff, and most importantly yourself. Responsibility: As 8th graders, we expect you to be responsible. That means everything from making sure you have your materials on the appropriate day. This also means you are responsible for making sure you know what you missed when you were absent and having your agenda if you need to leave the classroom. There will be consequences for being disrespectful or not being responsible. Station 14 Questions: Answer in complete sentences. Who are you expected to be respectful to when you are at RFMS? What is an example of what being responsible looks like?
16
Station 15: Technology School policy says that you are allowed to bring your own devices to school. However, you may not use your devices while in class unless Mrs. Brock has given you permission. There will be days when we are using technology for a game or research, but if you have not brought your technology paperwork back OR you are not on task with your technology use, you will be asked to put your technology away and that assignment will become homework. You may receive a step if you do not put your technology away or get back on task. It is possible that you may lose all the use of technology in class. *School Wide: No taking pictures. If wearing headphones in the hallway, one earbud must be out. No phone calls may be made in the hallway or during class. If you need to make a phone call, you will be allowed to use the phone in the front office (at your teacher’s discretion). Station 15 Question: Answer in complete sentences. Can you use technology in class? Explain.
