How will we build our car? Get started on the write up
Standard I can determine what causes objects to speed up, slow down or change direction Entry Task Go to Pg. 24 Learning Target How will we build our car? At home Get started on the write up

Scientific Principles…
An object will maintain its motion unless acted on by an unbalanced force Unbalanced forces will cause your car to speed up, slow down or turn – control them Newton’s 1st law Scientific Principles… You will be able to alter the force on, and mass of, your car – this will affect the car’s acceleration Acceleration is affected by the force acting on the object and the mass of the object A = F÷M F= MxA Newton’s 2nd Law There will be many force pairs in your car. Look for them to maximize performance Newton’s 3rd Law For every force there is an equal and opposite force You can alter the amount of force, by changing the distance it is applied over Changing pole length and wheel circumference can alter the force from the mousetrap Changing force

Wheel size vs speed of the car
For every test you finish…. What effect does wheel size have on the speed of the car. Wheel size vs speed of the car Wheel size Speed m/s Small 4 Medium 3 Large 2.6 Small wheels went faster, but were less sturdy I will use the medium wheels

Wheel size vs speed of the car
Tests you don’t finish…. What effect does wheel size have on the speed of the car. Wheel size vs speed of the car Wheel size Speed m/s Small Medium Large We believe small wheels would go faster, but would be less sturdy less sturdy I will use the medium wheels

I will use a short pole and CD’s on all four wheels
I will use a short pole and CD’s on all four wheels? I will use the short pole because short poles....(scientific reason). I will use CD wheels because CD wheels … (scientific reason)

Homework… Get started on finishing the packet Use the evaluation sheet
Complete all parts by Wednesday You will bring in the evaluation form in on Wednesday
