Lazy W Field Trip Parent Meeting

Overview Day 1 Try to have your child eat breakfast
Be at school by 5:15am Leave Dapplegray by 5:30-5:45am Depart Union Station at 7:20am Snack/juice will be provided on the train Arrive at San Juan Capistrano at 9:45am and tour Mission. Arrive at Lazy W Camp around 11:45 am for Orientation and Lunch. Begin activities; study of Indian survival, Spanish Settlement, and life on a Rancho.

Day 2 Begin Day 2 activities at 9:00am. Children will explore the California Gold Rush. Lunch at 11:00am. Begin second part of activity at 11:30am, Modern California. Wrap up program and head home between 1:00pm-1:30pm. Arrive back at school at around 3:30pm.

Medication All medication, prescription and non-prescription must be in original pill bottle, even Tylenol. Bottle must be labeled with child’s name. Baggies of pills will not be accepted. Doctor’s signature must be on both prescription and non-prescription forms. Teachers will not accept medication day of the field trip. Must be turned in to Lisa Frka before field trip.

Packing for Trip Luggage will not be going on train but will stay on buses so your child will not be carrying it around all day. Lunch-Pack disposable lunch into duffel bag. Child will not need lunch until we arrive at Lazy W. Items must be packed in bag that can be carried; duffel bags with strap are ideal. Label duffel bag with your child’s name. Have your child help pack so they know what their bag looks like. Label sleeping bag. You can also pack sleeping bag & pillow in a trash bag & label outside with masking tape. Pack extra trash bag for return trip inside.

Packing Continued Small bag may be brought onto train-can hold book, playing cards, water bottle. Please pack extra water bottle in duffel bag; label bottle. Will have a chance to refill water bottles throughout the day. Canteen or plastic water bottle can be brought. Have your child wear a hat and pack sunscreen and chapstick.

What Not to Bring Children may NOT wear shorts or capris.
All children must wear long pants. Why? Poison oak/ poison ivy. Money Electronics Curling iron Cell phones Snacks or treats
