1 DO NOT SIT!!!!!!! PLEASE STAND IN THE BACK OF THE ROOM AND WAIT FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS.

2 These are your chairs. These chairs cost a lot of money: about $500 each, to be exact. We want them to be around for a long time. They’re for making it easier to work in groups and switch spots in the classroom.

3 How do they work? The arms can be used to hang your book bag or purse . The table swings out of the way when you don’t need it, and back when you do. The seat part rocks back and forth without the wheels coming off the ground. They roll to move around.

4 How do we use them? swivel out bottom legs book bag
Swing the desk out of the way to get in. Your bottom goes in the purple part. Your feet go on the floor or perched on the rim of the bottom bucket. Your book bag and books go in the bottom bucket. Tuck all the straps in so they don’t get stuck in the wheels. swivel out bottom legs book bag

5 How do we move them? push from here
You will sometimes need to move your chair around the room to get in a different group. To move your chair, be sure all of your supplies are under your chair. swing the desk out of the way stand up push the chair to the new destination (use the top of the seat) follow walking traffic rules push from here

leave your book bag on the floor or at a stationary table move closer to a peer or teacher for social or nefarious reasons roll to a new spot withOUT teacher permission roll the chair to a new spot more than 3 feet away withOUT standing up write on any part of the desk

8 What happens if . . . I accidentally write on the desk?
Ask a teacher for cleaning supplies; be more careful. Stand up and sit in the purple part. Consequence ladder Automatic referral. You don’t have supplies when you need them. Natural consequence. I accidentally write on the desk? I sit on the desk part? I roll closer to a peer to interrupt their learning? I play bumper cars with the chairs while moving them? I don’t follow traffic rules?
