Restoring a system image backup Start from Windows Recovery Environment Select Advanced Options – System Image Recovery This will replace your current environment with the backup image. This image overlays the current drive or a new drive as long as the drive capacity is greater than or equal to the backup image. Rolling back to a previous restore point Restore points are generated automatically System Restore Utility can: Correct instability caused by installing an application Restore a set of drivers by rolling back to a previous restore point Restoring back to a time when the system was known to be stable System Restore Utility cannot: Fix a damaged hard drive Protect you from worms, viruses or malware (use Windows Defender) © John Urrutia 2017, All Rights Reserved

System Restore Do’s and Don’ts Hazards of Time Travel Create a User, Rollback to a restore point prior to the user’s creation POOF! User disappears, but their documents/files remain. Uninstall programs you don’t want affected before you rollback then re-install after restore Windows Recovery Environment are NOT monitored Make sure you know which to use System Restore or Windows Recovery they don’t play well together. © John Urrutia 2017, All Rights Reserved
